The Calpeda C Series is a range of close coupled centrifugal pumps fitted with an open impeller, designed for straightforward water transfer duties. The cast iron pump body is paired with a brass impeller, a combination that balances durability with sensible cost. Because the open impeller tolerates small particles, these pumps cope with slightly dirty water that would trouble a closed impeller design.
Close coupled construction means the motor shaft extends directly into the pump, so there are no couplings to align and the whole unit stays compact. The models we stock run on three phase 230/400V motors, with Calpeda also producing single phase and bronze versions to order. Connection sizes run from 1/2″ up to 1 1/2″ BSP, keeping installation simple on standard threaded pipework.

It is a compact close coupled centrifugal pump with an open impeller, designed for general water transfer duties. The pump body is cast iron and the impeller is brass. The motor connects directly to the pump, creating a simple unit with very little to go wrong.
An open impeller has exposed vanes rather than enclosed passages, so small particles pass through instead of clogging the pump. That makes the C Series more forgiving with slightly dirty water than closed impeller designs. It is a practical advantage on real-world transfer duties where water is rarely laboratory clean.
Typical uses include water transfer, circulation, washdown supply and light industrial or agricultural duties. They suit installations where the pump has a flooded suction or a properly primed suction line. For suction lift applications where the pump must prime itself, look at the self-priming A or CA Series instead.
