CA Series - Self-Priming Liquid Ring Pumps

The Calpeda CA Series is a range of close-coupled self-priming liquid ring pumps built around a star-shaped impeller with an anti-lock wear ring. The liquid ring principle lets these pumps draw water up a suction lift of as much as 9 metres and keep working steadily even when the liquid contains entrained air or gas. That combination makes them the go-to choice for drawing water out of wells and for suction lines where flow is unstable.

Steady Performance Where Other Pumps Struggle

Ordinary centrifugal pumps lose their prime or run rough when air gets into the suction line, but the CA’s star impeller keeps pumping through it. The cast iron casing and brass impeller handle clean, non-aggressive liquids at temperatures from -10 up to +90 degrees Celsius. Bronze construction versions are available to order for more demanding liquids.

Compact Units For Wells And Pressure Duties

We stock eight models with BSP connections of 3/4″ and 1″, covering three phase CA models on 230/400V and single phase CAM models on 230V with built-in thermal protection. All are close coupled, so the unit is compact and there is nothing to align during installation. If you are drawing from a well or fighting an awkward suction line, our team can help you pick the right CA model.

It is a close coupled self-priming liquid ring pump with a star-shaped impeller and an anti-lock wear ring. The liquid ring design lets it prime itself and keep pumping even when the liquid contains entrained air or gas. It is commonly used for drawing water from wells and boosting pressure on difficult suction lines.

The range can handle a negative suction pressure equivalent to a lift of up to 9 metres. That makes it well suited to drawing water out of wells and tanks located below the pump. Suction pipework should still be kept as short and airtight as practical for best performance.

These pumps are designed for clean liquids without abrasives or suspended solids, and they are non-explosive and non-aggressive to the pump materials. They are particularly good where the liquid carries entrained air or gas. Temperatures from -10 up to +90 degrees Celsius are covered.

The classic duties are drawing water out of wells and increasing pressure in a supply network, subject to local regulations. They also suit any installation where the suction flow is unstable or air keeps finding its way into the line. Domestic, agricultural and light industrial users all rely on this range.
