Our Calpeda centrifugal pump range brings together five series covering most everyday water transfer, drainage and supply duties. It includes the A Series self-priming pumps, the C Series close coupled pumps with open impeller, the CA Series self-priming liquid ring pumps, the MXA Series horizontal multi-stage pumps and the N Series close coupled pumps. Between them, these ranges handle everything from small transfer jobs to serious civil and industrial applications.
Each series has its own strengths. Self-priming designs like the A and CA Series can lift water from below the pump and re-prime themselves, which makes them ideal for suction lift duties such as draining sumps or drawing from wells. Open impeller designs tolerate slightly dirty water with small solids, while multi-stage and standardised designs deliver higher pressures and industrial performance. Materials range from cast iron with brass or cast iron impellers through to bronze options for more demanding liquids.
Calpeda has been building centrifugal pumps for over 60 years, and these ranges are trusted across domestic, agricultural, civil and industrial installations worldwide. All the pumps we stock are close coupled designs, meaning the motor connects directly to the pump for a compact, low maintenance unit. If you are not sure which series suits your application, our team can point you to the right pump from your flow, pressure and liquid details.

We stock five Calpeda centrifugal ranges: the A Series self-priming pumps, C Series close coupled pumps, CA Series self-priming liquid ring pumps, MXA Series horizontal multi-stage pumps and N Series close coupled pumps. Together they cover transfer, drainage, irrigation, pressure boosting and industrial process duties. Each series page has full details of the models available.
A rotating impeller accelerates the liquid outward from the centre of the pump, converting motor energy into flow and pressure. Water enters near the impeller’s axis, spins outward through the casing and exits into the delivery pipework. It is a simple, reliable principle, which is why centrifugal pumps dominate water handling.
A self-priming pump can evacuate air from its suction line and start pumping without being manually filled each time. That matters when the pump sits above the water source, such as when draining a sump or drawing from a well. In this range, the A Series and CA Series are the self-priming options.
The A Series and C Series both use open impellers, which tolerate small solids that would clog a closed impeller design. The A Series in particular handles solids up to 10 or 15mm depending on the model. For clean water at higher pressures, the multi-stage MXA is a better fit.
