Calpeda Multistage Pumps - More Stages, More Pressure

A multistage pump does exactly what the name suggests. Instead of one impeller doing all the work, several sit in series, and each one adds another slice of pressure to the water passing through. The result is a pump that generates serious head without needing a huge motor or a huge footprint. If your problem is pressure rather than volume, this is where you want to be looking.

Three Series, Three Different Jobs

We carry a wide range of Calpeda multistage pumps across three families. The MGP Series uses a cast iron barrel casing with Noryl stages and suits general water supply, garden and irrigation work. The MXP Series swaps to a stainless steel casing while keeping the Noryl stages, which is a useful step up for water quality. The MXH Series goes fully stainless, with every wetted hydraulic part in stainless steel, and handles liquids from -15°C right up to 110°C. Connections run from 1″ through to 3″, all BSP.

Easy to Live With

Every one of these is close-coupled, so installation is quick and there is no alignment to worry about. Voltage options cover 230v, 230/400v, 400v and 400/690v, so matching your site supply is straightforward. Most models take a maximum casing pressure of 8 bar and are rated for continuous duty. A standard centrifugal pump has a single impeller, so the pressure it can generate is capped by that one stage. A multistage pump stacks several impellers in series, and each adds to the pressure of the last. That gives you far higher head from a comparable motor size, at more modest flow rates.

The MGP, MXP and MXH Series are not self-priming, so they need a flooded suction or a foot valve and primed line. If you specifically need self-priming, look at the Calpeda MXA Series on our centrifugal pages, which is built for suction lift up to 8 metres.

On several models, yes. The MGP and MXP motors are suitable for frequency converter operation from 1.1kW upwards, and MXH options are available too. Send us the model you are considering and we will confirm before you order.
