The Calpeda GQ range covers the jobs nobody enjoys: draining flooded rooms, emptying tanks, lifting water out of ponds, streams and pits, and moving waste water where it needs to go. These are single-impeller submersible pumps that sit in the liquid and get on with it, with the motor cooled by the water around them. We stock 85 models here, making it our largest Calpeda submersible group by some distance.
The GQR models are drainage pumps with an open impeller and a vertical threaded G 1 1/2″ delivery port, handling clean water with solids up to 10mm. The GQG models are a different beast, fitted with a high-power grinder in AISI 440C stainless steel and a horizontal flanged and threaded delivery port. Those are built for waste water carrying long filamentous material, paper, textiles and organics, with a 6mm solid passage after grinding. Between them you have most drainage and waste water duties covered.
Every model uses a double mechanical shaft seal with an interposed oil chamber, guarding against dry running and giving the motor a second line of defence. Motors carry IPX8 protection for continuous immersion with Class F insulation, and each comes with a 10 metre cable. Maximum immersion depth is 5 metres, and liquid temperature is rated up to 35°C. Single-phase GQRM and GQGM models arrive with a float switch and thermal protector fitted, so they are ready to run automatically.

GQR pumps are drainage pumps with an open impeller, designed for clean water with solids up to 10mm, and they have a vertical threaded delivery port. GQG pumps carry a high-power grinder that shreds solids before pumping, which lets them handle waste water full of filamentous and fibrous material.
Up to 10mm grain size in clean water. That covers most grit, small stones and general debris you would find draining a cellar or emptying a tank. If your liquid contains anything larger or more fibrous, a GQG grinder model or a vortex-impeller pump will serve you better.
A hardened AISI 440C stainless steel grinder sits at the pump inlet and shreds solids as they enter, reducing them to a size the impeller can pass. That is what lets the GQG cope with long filamentous material, paper and textiles that would jam a conventional drainage pump solid.
Maximum immersion depth is 5 metres. There are minimum depths too, which matter for motor cooling: GQR models need a minimum immersion of 205mm, and GQG grinder models need 300mm. Going shallower risks overheating the motor.
