Calpeda Swimming Pool Pumps - Keeping Water Moving

A pool is only as good as its circulation, and that job falls squarely on the pump. Calpeda’s pool range is built for exactly this duty, with self-priming hydraulics and a built-in strainer basket that catches leaves and debris before they reach the impeller. We stock 20 models across two series, covering everything from a modest domestic pool up to serious commercial filtration duty.

Two Series, Two Approaches

The MPC Series is the plastic option, built from glass-reinforced thermoplastic with a thermoplastic impeller and a stainless steel diffuser. It is corrosion-proof, resists sand erosion and comes with a base-plate kit. The NMP Series takes a more industrial approach with a cast iron casing and lantern bracket, finished with a cataphoresis coating, and a strainer basket drilled with 3mm holes. Both handle clean or slightly dirty water with solids in suspension, and both are rated for water up to 60°C.

Simple to Specify, Simple to Service

Most models here use 2″ connections, with a couple of larger NMP units at 2 1/2″. Twelve of the 20 are single-phase 230v units and the remaining eight are three-phase on 230/400v, so matching a domestic or commercial supply is easy. The clear strainer lids make it obvious when a basket needs emptying, which is about as much routine maintenance as these ask for. Tell us your pool volume and turnover target and we will size it properly.

Materials, mainly. MPC pumps are built from glass-reinforced thermoplastic, making them light, corrosion-proof and well suited to domestic pools. NMP pumps use a cast iron casing with a cataphoresis coating and are the more robust industrial choice, with larger models available for higher flow duties.

Yes, both series include a built-in strainer basket as standard. It catches leaves, hair and larger debris before they reach the impeller, which protects the pump and keeps your filter working properly. The NMP basket is drilled with 3mm holes.

They are, which matters because pool pumps often sit above water level in a plant room. Both series will evacuate air from the suction line and draw water up without needing to be flooded first. The NMP handles a total suction lift of up to 7 metres.

The thermoplastic MPC models cope far better with salt than cast iron does, so they are usually the sensible starting point for a salt-chlorinated pool. That said, salt levels vary a lot, so send us your water details and we will confirm before you commit.
