Magnetic drive pumps use a magnetic coupling instead of a physical shaft seal. That means there is no direct drive shaft passing through a seal, which helps prevent leaks.
They are good for chemicals, clean liquids, acids or alkalis (depending on the elastomer materials), chilled water, and other liquids where you want corrosion resistance and minimal contamination.
Check what fluid you’ll pump, its temperature and chemical nature, how far you need to pump it (head), what flow rate is needed, and the power source. Also check whether the elastomers used (EPDM, Viton, etc.) are compatible with your fluid.
They generally require less maintenance than sealed pumps. Key tasks include checking for signs of wear, ensuring the magnetic coupling is clean, replacing worn seals or o-rings (if any), and making sure the motor is kept in good condition.
