Flux drum emptying pumps are built around one goal: getting as close to every last drop out of a container as possible. The design achieves 99.98% drainage, leaving under 0.05 litres behind in a 200 litre drum. That has a direct effect on cost, because product you cannot recover is product you have paid for and must then dispose of as contaminated waste. Where your liquid is expensive or your disposal costs are high, the maths works quickly.
A backflow preventer stops liquid draining back down the tube when the pump stops, which is where most residual volume normally ends up. Combined with a mechanical seal arrangement that keeps the shaft separated from the product, the pump clears the container far more thoroughly than a standard design. Less residue also means less cleaning between products and smaller volumes of rinse water to deal with. Stainless steel construction with ATEX certification allows the same approach on flammable products.
This design suits high value liquids, regulated products and any operation where drum disposal is costly or closely audited. Pharmaceutical and cosmetics production are common applications, particularly for ethanol and similar solvents where recovering the remaining volume matters both financially and environmentally. Mechanical seal construction also prevents product carry over when containers are changed, so the same pump can serve different liquids in sequence. Immersion length is matched to standard 200 litre drums.

Flux rates this design at 99.98% drainage, which works out at less than 0.05 litres remaining in a standard 200 litre drum. A conventional drum pump typically leaves noticeably more. Over a year of drum changes that difference adds up in both recovered product and reduced waste.
When a normal drum pump stops, liquid sitting in the tube drains back into the container, and some is always left behind. A backflow preventer holds that liquid in the tube instead, so it clears through the discharge rather than returning. It is the main reason this design empties so much more completely.
Yes, this range is ATEX rated and built in stainless steel, so it is suitable for flammable liquids and classified hazardous areas. That combination is what makes it a common choice for ethanol and solvent recovery in pharmaceutical and cosmetics production.
The mechanical seal keeps the drive shaft separated from the liquid, and near complete drainage means very little of the previous product remains in the pump. Both help considerably when you are switching between liquids. For hygiene critical work, look at our Food and Pharmaceuticals range as well.
