Trans-Flo pumps exist because plant air is often wet, dirty and inconsistent, and a lot of diaphragm pumps simply do not cope. The range uses a rugged anodised aluminium piston-style air valve designed to keep shifting in genuinely poor air conditions, which is why you find these pumps on mine sites, construction projects and heavy utility work.
Nomad make a specific claim about the Trans-Flo air distribution system, and it is a fair one: it has the fewest moving parts of any diaphragm pump air system. Fewer parts means less to wear, less to stock and a much faster rebuild when the time comes. Assembly and disassembly are straightforward enough that site maintenance teams can handle them without specialist training. On remote or awkward installations, that is worth a great deal.
Wetted bodies are available in aluminium, cast iron and 316 stainless steel, with centre sections in aluminium or polypropylene. Diaphragm choice is extensive, running from nitrile, EPDM, neoprene, FKM and polyurethane through to Santoprene, TPE and PTFE, including one-piece integral piston versions for longer flex life. Porting covers BSP, NPT, Tri-Clamp and flanged, and 316 of the pumps listed here are ATEX rated. Browse the range below or get in touch for help specifying.

It uses a rugged anodised aluminium piston-style air valve rather than a spool arrangement. That construction is designed to keep operating in the harshest compressed air conditions, including air carrying moisture and contamination. It is the main reason Trans-Flo pumps are favoured on mining and construction sites.
They are aimed at mining, quarrying, construction and general heavy industrial duties, where compressed air quality is variable and the fluids are abrasive or solids-laden. They also perform well in utility and dewatering roles. Anywhere the environment is unforgiving and maintenance needs to be simple, they make sense.
Yes, many of the Trans-Flo pumps carry an ATEX rating. With good coverage across the size and material options for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Let us know your zone classification and we will confirm suitable models.
UFI diaphragms are one-piece designs with the piston integrated into the diaphragm itself, rather than using a separate outer piston bolted through the centre. That removes a bolt-through fastener from the wetted path and generally improves flex life and reliability. They are available across most of the elastomer options in this range.
