Air Operated Diaphragm Pumps Built For Awkward Fluids

Samoa has been making fluid handling equipment since 1958, and their air operated double diaphragm pumps are the ones you specify when the fluid is aggressive, abrasive or simply too awkward for a centrifugal. Running on compressed air alone means no electrics at the pump, the ability to run dry without damage, and a pump that stalls safely against a closed valve rather than damaging itself. Dosing, spraying, transferring, evacuating and distributing are all in scope.

Two Ranges, Very Different Jobs

The ClassicFlo range covers the larger 2 inch metallic pumps built for serious volume, while the DirectFlo range runs from quarter inch upwards for compact dosing and medium flow transfer duties. Both are offered as BSP threaded and flanged, so they drop into existing pipework without a redesign. Between them the two ranges cover a very wide spread of flow rates from a couple of shared operating principles.

Specify It For Your Fluid

Material choice is where these pumps really earn their place. Bodies come in aluminium, stainless steel, polypropylene, conductive polypropylene, PVDF and conductive acetal, with centre sections in aluminium or polypropylene. Diaphragms, balls and seats can be specified in PTFE, Santoprene, TPE, nitrile, FKM and stainless steel, and ATEX certified configurations are available where the pump is going into a potentially explosive atmosphere. Tell us the fluid and we will build the specification around it.

ClassicFlo covers the larger 2 inch metallic pumps built for high volume transfer, while DirectFlo runs from quarter inch upwards and is aimed at compact dosing, spraying and medium flow duties. If you need volume, look at ClassicFlo, and if you need a compact pump in a tight space, DirectFlo is the one.

There are no electrics at the pump, which makes them a natural fit for hazardous areas and wash down environments. They also run dry without damage, self prime, handle a suction line full of air, and stall safely against a closed discharge valve rather than building damaging pressure.

Aluminium, stainless steel, polypropylene, conductive polypropylene, PVDF and conductive acetal all feature across the ranges. Aluminium and stainless suit general industrial and hygienic duty, while the plastics come into their own with aggressive chemicals.

Many configurations across both ranges carry ATEX certification for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Certification depends on the exact build, particularly whether conductive materials have been specified, so confirm the model code with us.
