The ARO Expert, known as the EXP series, is ARO’s premium air-operated double diaphragm pump range, available in 1″ – 3″ port sizes with flow rates up to 1,040 litres per minute. It is designed for heavy-duty chemical processing, oil and gas, petrochemical, ceramic, paint and coatings, and industrial process applications where air efficiency, long diaphragm life, and advanced process control are priorities.
The EXP features ARO’s Simul-Shift™ valve for ultra-positive air shifting, a convoluted diaphragm design that delivers up to four times the service life of standard diaphragms, and an exclusive Quick Dump™ valve that keeps cold exhaust air out of the air motor to reduce icing in continuous or high-flow applications. The EXP is claimed to be 20–40% more air-efficient than competing pumps at equivalent duty points.
The EXP supports full electronic interface capability, allowing integration with ARO Controllers, PLCs, and PC-based systems for accurate cycle-rate control, dosing, and diaphragm failure detection. Most EXP models are ATEX certified. Metallic versions are available in aluminium, cast iron, stainless steel, and Hastelloy-C; non-metallic versions use polypropylene and PVDF.

The EXP is ARO’s premium process diaphragm pump series in 1″, 1½”, 2″, and 3″ sizes. It is designed for demanding chemical, oil and gas, petrochemical, and industrial process applications where long service life, high air efficiency, and process integration are required.
The EXP uses a convoluted (corrugated profile) diaphragm design that flexes more evenly across its surface, reducing stress concentrations and delivering up to four times the service life of traditional flat diaphragms.
The Simul-Shift™ valve is ARO’s advanced pilot valve that simultaneously signals both sides of the main air valve for a more decisive, reliable shift. This minimises hesitation and ensures consistent cycling under varying back pressure conditions.
The Quick Dump™ valve is exclusive to the EXP range. It vents exhaust air rapidly to minimise cold air accumulation in the air motor, reducing the risk of icing in high-duty-cycle or continuous operation — a common problem with AODD pumps in cold environments.
