The Calpeda MPS Series is a range of 5 inch close coupled multi-stage submersible pumps for lifting clean water from wells, tanks and reservoirs. The external jacket is made from AISI 304 stainless steel, while the pump stages use tough Noryl technopolymer, a combination that keeps the price sensible without giving up reliability. They are a popular choice for domestic water supplies, garden and irrigation systems, and general civil and industrial duties.
The hydraulics sit below the motor, so the water being pumped flows past and cools the motor as it works, allowing safe operation even when only partially submerged. A double shaft seal with an oil chamber gives the motor two layers of protection, and the suction strainer keeps out solids larger than 2mm. Single phase MPSM models carry a built-in capacitor that can be reached through the delivery casing without dismantling the pump.
MPS pumps fit wells with an internal diameter of 140mm or more and work at immersion depths up to 20 metres. The cylindrical strainer at the base also lets the pump stand directly on the flat bottom of a storage tank, needing only 100mm of water above it.
