Plastica Argonaut swimming pool pumps are self-priming centrifugal pumps designed for continuous swimming pool circulation. The range covers domestic and small commercial pools, with two distinct series: the smaller AG range from 0.25 HP up to 0.66 HP, and the larger AV range running up to 1.5 HP and beyond. Both series are self-priming to 3 metres and designed for continuous duty.
Every Plastica Argonaut pump is built with glass-filled polypropylene wetted parts, AISI 316 stainless steel motor shafts, and carbon/ceramic mechanical seals. This construction is fully compatible with chlorine, bromine, iodine, and saltwater pool chemistry, making the pumps suitable for traditional pools and salt-chlorinated installations. IP55-rated motors withstand the wet, splash-prone environment of a poolside plant room.
The Plastica Argonaut range is the same pump platform that has been sold over the years under the HydroAir, ITT, Balboa, ITT Marlow, and Lowara brands. The product is now owned and manufactured by Plastica Pools in the UK, with continuity of design, parts compatibility, and engineering. Wear parts are interchangeable between current Plastica Argonaut and older branded variants of the same pump.

Plastica Argonaut pumps are designed for swimming pool circulation, drawing water from the pool through the strainer basket and pushing it through the filter and back to the pool. The self-priming design works for installations where the pump sits above pool water level, and the corrosion-resistant build handles chlorine, bromine, iodine, and saltwater chemistry.
The AG series is the smaller “baby brother” range, with motors from 0.25 HP (0.19 kW) up to 0.66 HP (0.49 kW), suited to smaller domestic pools. The AV series is the larger range, going up to 1.5 HP and beyond, suited to larger pools, small commercial spas, and water features.
Yes. Both the AG and AV series are self-priming to 3 metres, meaning the pump can lift water from below pump level without manual priming each time. The large transparent strainer basket is filled with water on first installation, after which the pump primes itself on every restart.
Plastica Argonaut pumps are manufactured by Plastica Pools in the UK. The company took over the Argonaut pump platform from its previous owners (HydroAir, ITT, Balboa, Lowara) and continues to build the pumps to the same engineering standards, with UK stock of pumps and parts for fast supply.
