PUMP IMPELLERS
Impellers are crucial components in pump, they are responsible for the fluid flow. Typically made up of rotating blades or vanes, and are housed within the pump casing. They are designed specifically for their pump or certain applications, they can be made up of many different shapes, number of blades and materials.
When the pump draws in fluid from the inlet port, the impeller rotates (typically as high speeds), driven by the power of the motor or drive. As the impeller spins, it created centrifugal force which causes the fluid to move through the pump, and is forced out through the discharge port.
Impellers can get damaged over time, due to abrasion, corrosion, overloading, misalignment, fatigue and more. Keeping spare impellers on hand for your pump is key to minimal downtime.
